The Travers Stakes Analysis and Selections
As usual we'll be looking for a price and we have alot to choose from in this year's Travers. It appears to be wide open
with value all over the board.
- 1. Tale of Ekati, Edgar Prado, 20-1 - Healed up from Belmont Stakes. Looking to improve off Jim Dandy effort. Tagg will eventually get this horse back in the winners circle.
- 2. Colonel John, Garrett Gomez, 8-1 - Good effort in Swaps. May move up. Dirt question again?
- 3. Da' Tara, Alan Garcia, 8-1 - Chucked bit in Jim Dandy speed duel last out. Bad bounce after tough Belmont score. Sharp work coming in,.
- 4. Tizbig, Cornelio Velasquez, 30-1 - Speedy type but in deep here. Too much behind him.
- 5. Macho Again, Julien Leparoux, 6-1 - Picked up the pieces in Jim Dandy score. Pyro would have won if race was 1 1/4 miles.
- 6. Cool Coal Man, John Velazquez, 15-1 - Distance seems an issue. 3rd to Big Brown in Haskell.
- 7. Amped, Jorge Chavez, 30-1 - Zito closer will need blistering fractions and race to fall apart.
- 8. Harlem Rocker, Eibar Coa, 4-1 - Won Withers earlier and Cruised on Canadian dirt surface. Gets tougher On Saturday Afternoon.
- 9. Mambo in Seattle, Robby Albarado, 5-1 - Breeding says YES. Won Travers tuneup in Jim Dandy undercard race going 1 1/8 miles.
- 10. Tres Borrachos, Tyler Baze, 15-1 - Stunned Swaps field on synthetic surface. Seems unlikely.
- 11. Pyro, Shaun Bridgmohan, 7-2 - Fast pace always helps and will be running late. Probably luke warm favorite.
- 12. Court Vision, Kent Desormeaux, 12-1 - Nice grass effort in Virginia. Why not?
TrackSidePlayer Selections:
$50 win on Da' Tara and $2 exacta wheel ALL W/ Da'Tara for a total of $72 wagered.
Win: Da' Tara - Used up in Speed duel last out and was due to bounce after grueling Belmont Stakes. Garcia will be instructed to stalk on Saturday. Bullet work says "Ready".
Place: Pyro - Should be picking up horses on the far turn. Will need to be dynamite to beat em all.
Show: Mambo in Seattle - Needs personal best but is capable!
