Big Brown could be another Secretariat??

Richard Dutrow's Big Brown broke from the 12 post and never looked back in the Florida Derby. Setting very fast fractions with 3/4 mile in 1:10 and drawing off to crush a very nice field. After the race it looked like the son of Boundary was hardly blowing. Kent Desormeaux stated the colt was bounding down the backside like a deer in a meadow, but could it be a dfferent story on the first Saturday in May?

Kentucky Derby next for Big Brown

Could this colt be the next superstar in racing? If the colt runs 1:10 and change at Churchill downs with others sure to be pressing him, it will be a tough task, just ask Unbridled song, Bellamy Road and others doomed by fast paces in the Derby. Still lurking as the one to beat is Pyro. A devastating turn of foot down the stretch allows Pyro to inhale foes at will and with the 1 1/4 mile Kentucky Derby distance, Pyro can almost be placed anywhere as they straighten for home and he will take no prisoners down the lane. Big Brown and Pyro appear to be the stories so far this year on the Derby prep trail. Time will tell. It always does!
